Caught some salmon today for the first time in many years.
After a crazy heavy dinner of chicken braised in cream last night, we needed something to settle our stomachs. Turkey meatballs on a bed or quinoa, mushrooms, and Swiss chard.
Seattle’s International District threw its third annual night market last night. There has been some crazy growth year over year, this was really something. Basically a food truck festival with a handful of super weird vendors. We walked away very full of street food and neighborhood pride.
If you didn’t make it this year, mark your calendars. The next street fair around here will be the Lunar New Year. Hope to see you there.
Free ice cream update! This tips the scales, everyone in Seattle should come eat at I Love Wasabi.
Tried a new sushi joint in the ID today. I love wasabi is a strange place. You take the good with the odd, great cuts of fish paired with kind of a strip mall decor. The chef gave us a dish on the house, but it was covered in salsa.
All in all, worth a visit. Maybe don’t order anything with salsa on your sushi. Just sayin’
Dinner tonight is the end game of my whole summer. Caprese salad made with tomatoes and basil from our rooftop garden with handmade cheese from our kitchen. Served with espresso marinated flank steak. Making cheese and growing vegetables has officially pushed my cooking habit into area of addiction. I have a problem.
Our rooftop garden has turned into a total food jungle. This miso chicken salad was foraged from up there. I pulled Swiss chard, kale, yellow pepper, tomato, and zucchini flowers from the madness to make this bowl of goodness.
Pan seared snapper on a Mediterranean quinoa salad.
Tom Yum soup with rice noodles and pork tenderloin.
Home made Pad See Ew. Found locally made, fresh rice noodles at the counter of my weekend produce place. These noodles were made by the same place that we ordered custom fortune cookies from for our wedding.
Hoisin flap steak with shatakis, served with cauliflower in a brown butter miso glaze. Hot and sweet peppers from our rooftop vegetable garden. Food is the very best.
We had a fantastic dinner party last night. Casey made Vietnamese sausage in lettuce wraps with all sorts of fixings and sauces. The pineapple anchovy sauce isn’t pictured but kicked all manner of ass.
Very kind comment on dinner last night. We had a great time.
